No, you can't has forgs

Zhayolm is a complete shit. We were supposed to do 5f/6f, but after being gyped out of cells again (we got 2 rings and 2 ranged after clearing 2f NE, so could only dupe one and therefore unable to unlock 3 people for 5fN) we ended up doing the boss.

Now I'm 2/3 on ares legs and morri feet, both needing the 35 :\

We could have tried for 6f, even without 5fN, but that would mean going south on 3f and killing 5fS (drops nothing) just to pop 6f which I feel is a waste of a run by itself, if we were faster we should be able to manage 6f+boss I guess, but our setup isn't great for this zone. In future, we might port up SE on 1f so we get hands (and TH4) before killing NE room, which I think is a waste because clearing NE first is always the best option because it can drop more useful cells, and I'd rather have everyone with back/waist/rings/earrings/ranged instead of just hands. Whether it was just bad luck, or we just didn't have TH on all the lizards (I wasn't paying attention) I can't tell, but this zone is not being kind to us, and we've done about 3 or 4 consecutive runs here so it's about time we went elsewhere for other people's stuff.

In other news, Flam came back to play over the holidays and we both went to dyna for shits and giggles. As it was dynamis, the shits and giggles ran out pretty fast, although spamming 2hours on Jeuno gobbies (dice move thingy can reset them) was entertaining for a while.

It was actually the first time I ever did dynamis as non-RDM, and now I have no idea why people always wanted to get off RDM in favour of DD jobs, because it's just as repetitive, and harder to ninja-afk when meleeing. 3am finish killed me, I don't know how I put up with that regularly.

SIDEWINDAH

Nothing interesting to put here, but it's been a while since I wrote anything so here is a list of stuff I did recently. What a bore.

SKILLUPS PEW PEW
Archery > 198 (cap: 210)
Throwing > 173 (cap: 189)
Parrying > 175 (cap: 200)
Staff > 220something (retribution soon!)

Still no martial master kupopower :(

Camping Rare/ex stuff for a mule I hardly use! 0/1 then death warped after a rampage around castle oztroja.

Campaign! Wasted time doing battles to find I already had the max medal rank. Maat is a beast though.

Standing in Whitegate! No 3rd mithra with the mage gear from MKD/ACP came along :\

Dynamis! I was almost entertained for the first hour and a half. Melee gear for next city run? (not windy though, fuck yags)

What is this.

It's not a shellbuster, I can tell you that much. And that it's on a DRK. I don't even know why I bother when I see stuff like this.

Here's an illustration of RDM abuse; probably the biggest recast list I've made from normal party duties

When buffing just one party is not enough. I think I'm the only person with RDM leveled attending limbus at the moment (other rdm is MIA). At least there's no competition for AF+1 bits. Speaking of which...

+1'd my 2nd RDM hat, next will be body > legs > done.
DRG +1 legs will be my new TP legs (and it completes my healing breath set) until homam. I can't store my AF now however, but I plan on HQing the feet (jumps) and head (healing breath, spirit link) then putting the useless bits (body, hands) in storage.

Exciting things I've been doing between limbus (pictured, above), dynamis and standing around in whitegate now include salvage (again)!

New salvage group will take some getting used to, but we managed to do LAC (silver sea boss) on the first try, which is something I hadn't beaten before and didn't expect to beat, so it's a good start. Now hopefully I'll see a Zhayolm run sometime in the next month instead of the usual SSR > SSR > Bhaflau> SSR > Arrapago > Arrapago > Arrapago > Arrapago > Bhaflau > SSR > SSR > etc. rotation that everyone on the server seems so fond of (I've even only seen one Zhayolm pickup group shouting, and even that was JP).

GG Siren.

Siren World's Undefeated Besieged Record Eclipses 2000 Mark!
(04/06/2009)

Ever since the introduction of Besieged to Vana'diel approximately three years ago, Siren has emerged as the only world to maintain an immaculate, undefeated record. And as of May 27th 2009, this record has reached an amazing 2000 consecutive victories!

We would like to offer our heartiest congratulations to all the denizens of Siren World, and wish good fortune to those in all worlds who do their part in the frenetic defense of the Imperial Capital, Al Zahbi.

I've not commented on the POL news stuff for a while, but this is quite impressive, especially that they went that long when a two week period on Hades without losing the Astral Candescence is considered a 'good stretch'.

Misc stuff:

People carpet :o

Seems we can't do dreamlands with less than 30.

Cool damage bro. This was on Bhaflau remn. 4f gears, I thought it was good since I normally average around 1~1.2k. Had double minuets and angon for it (coeurl subs as food), so no surprise here.

We linked a couple of gears, and the pickup guy didn't know to kill them fast so 1 warped while fighting, so we got about 7/10 overall. Still managed to kill the boss and complete some Usu legs!

Ugly gloves.

RDM relic complete! Over 290 enhancing skill now with only 3 pieces of gear. Of course it still doesn't break the next tier for Phalanx II, but it's another +1 to enspells and Phalanx 1. I could break 300 skill, for the final +1 to Phalanx II, but that would mean changing merits, getting the +enhancing sea cape, or farming ACP keys to get a +enhancing belt - none of which I feel like doing just yet. If ever. Plus it would mean I need to carry 2~3 more pieces of gear just to break the last tier. For normal party support purposes I only need to be carrying AF legs, so the gloves and my enhancing torque can go in the 'situational gear' pile in my satchel.

Molybdenum Ingots are falling in price! So I could either get one now, while they're under 400k (in case they jump back up to 500k again) or keep waiting for them to fall further (hopefully all the impatient rich people have all got theirs now).

Kupo.

Old news, but whatever man. I'm not playing a great deal due to exams, still a week of those to go D;

Basically people need to run around and find 11 tablets (which were all found by the time I knew about the exams), and can be found across the original/zilart areas.

From what I gather, anyone who finds a tablet gets this ring and extra goodies:

And when all the tablets are found, you get a bunch of spiffy bonuses:

"Thrifty Transit": Outpost teleport sites will operate free of charge!
"Martial Master": As an added Signet effect, battle skills will increase more rapidly!
"Blood of the Vampyr": Signets will be boosted with the abilities of Regeneration and Refresh!
"Treasure Hound": Signet will grant you the Gilfinder and Treasure Hunter abilities!
"Artisan's Advantage": The chances of losing ingredients due to failed synthesis will be significantly lowered!
"Mystery Boxes: San d'Oria": Treasure Caskets will appear more frequently around San d'Oria!
"Mystery Boxes: Bastok": Treasure Caskets will appear more frequently around Bastok!
"Mystery Boxes: Windurst": Treasure Caskets will appear more frequently around Windurst!
"Mystery Boxes: Frontier Lands": Treasure Caskets will appear more frequently in the north and other distant lands!
"Swift Shoes": Adventurers who are fully rested and healed will temporarily be able to run with great speed!
"Ease of Exploration": A teleport service connecting the towns of Mhaura and Selbina to the three nations will appear!

Which are pretty awesome, especially movement speed+ (though I've not noticed a major increase), skillups and regen/refresh from signet. Best part is you can still get these bonuses after the adventurer appreciation campaign, even if it's only three random ones/week. But getting the SAME DAMN MESSAGE every time I zone for the rest of my life might get a tad annoying.

The only downside to this event is how it coincides with my exam period, so I can't actually take advantage of it, and I've just changed nations.

So my signet duration sucks right now :\

Stuff what I done: first Ultima!

It went pretty smoothly, until the end where it decided to spam Citadel Buster and some magic shield almost exclusively, when we only had BLMs and one MNK for damage (other DD forgot to buy soap...).

Dynamis was supposed to be Valkurm, but we ended up doing Windy due to low numbers, which is pretty much the worst case scenario possible for me. Not only do we miss out on a nice short dreamlands run (particularly the zone that drops the D.chap -1, which is about the only thing I -really- want from dynamis now), but we have to do the most annoying city run, that features fun things like AOE stun moves on every normal mob, sleepga/slowga/paralyga from statues, silencega from pets, Death house, etc etc.

Of course no DDs are capable of subbing anything other than WAR (DRK/war what is this I don't even?) so I have to main heal a party full of people fecklessly taking damage just trying to prove they are the BEST AT DOING DAMAGE EVAR! Along with my usual sleep/debuff/nuke stuff regime, because of course we would have one less than the bare minimum of BLMs again. With that said, it wasn't a terrible run (actually better than a typical windy run) but we still might have actually cleared had people got themselves fucking killed less (hello /nin) and we had a better strategy for the Heaven's Tower mobs.

I think I'm just grouchy because I've not gotten anything new and shiny in game for nearly two months (although I shouldn't complain since the last thing I got was RDM hat). When exams are over I'll get back to the soul-crushing work of Aurum boots I think. Doesn't look like I'm getting homam any time soon, so I think I can justify the effort. I would buy N. head for DRG if the price of the cursed cap wasn't so ridiculous (thanks, gobbiebag quest!). If I could just find someone to sell me Bodb's slops I can die a happy person.

Taking a break.

It's the easter holidays, and I've gone home. I'm going to be pretty busy with family/friends etc. so I've decided to take a break from FFXI since my schedule will be all over the place and I won't be able to attend events regularily and without being interrupted. Well, that and I have a shitty connection here (shared between 4 people) and am forced to use my laptop for logistical reasons which makes the game look and play like ass.

All things considered, I still managed to attend a dynamis run (Sandy) since it's late enough and everyone else has gone to bed by then.

I was lucky to have a framerate of 10fps at most times, and even D/C'd just as the boss went down. I couldn't log back in which worried me that I might miss the clear, but ended up working after I reset my loltop.

We ended up doing a Bastok and clearing the entire zone again, which was nice. But more importantly, this put me at 4/4 on city clears giving me access to Beaucedine Glacier, and hopefully Xarcabard soon.

Hopefully I'll find time to get on and level lowbie jobs (DRG!) and build a surplus of assault points so Salvage won't have me crippled when I start back again.

Dynamis.

I've only just started doing dynamis, despite it being around since before I was playing. My main reason for avoiding it in the first place is because all I hear is people complaining about exp loss, crappy drop rates on this and that, etc, etc. Also, I was intimidated by the whole idea of applying to shells in the first place, I guess.

After recieving some encouragement, I decided to finally give it a go. I joined Aristocrats, a shell that I've got a large bunch of friends in so it wasn't too discomforting and unfamiliar although the runs are rather late for me, I can put up with it for now.

My first run was in Bastok, which from what I gathered was one of the easier runs. It seemed very hectic with 40 or 50 people in the zone, running around, mobs all over the place but at least everyone else seemed to know what they were doing. At first I was in a party with a single WAR, so I didn't have a great deal to do apart from keep him buffed and alive and sleep the occasional mob that the blms missed.

Loot whoreing already?

I got put in a BLM party later to commence the soul-destroying process of a 6-man refresh cycle, but it wasn't all bad with MP refills and Aspir on the statues allowing me to nuke on occasion.

Only thing that troubles me in Dynamis is targeting stuff quickly through the mass of players/mobs, probably best to employ stnpc in my important macros (Sleep/Silence).

So we end up killing the main boss for the clear, and then proceeding to empty out the rest of the zone with 30 minutes to spare (hardly a surprise considering how many people were there).

Next run was Windurst, which got a little frustrating being regularily hit with paralyze and silence, along with sleepga at times. It was all going quite well, up to a certain point where we had to pass something called 'death house'. We were told not to aggro the mobs there, as we wanted to get pass and kill an NM for the boss to spawn before we fought the mobs here. So, I behaved myself and snuck past undetected.

Unfortunately, not everyone did the same resulting in an asston of mobs pouncing most of the alliance while we were split up and unprepared. Most of us managed to make it to a safe spot to die and reraise and made a feeble last stand there.

We lost a huge chunk of time thanks to this balls-up, but fearless leader Xarpei spings into action, sac-pulling (basically sacrificing himself so we can pick off one mob and avoid the adds) the NM we needed to kill, and then sac-pulling all the death house mobs away so we could get past to the bridge and avoid fighting them. He missed a few of the house mobs, so we had to take those with us and kill them at the bridge. In the end, most of the house mobs linked to those we were fighting at the bridge and we ended up killing 90% of the mobs we were trying to avoid in the first place.

Everyone was reassured to see how focused I am during pulls.

In the end, we still managed the clear and had plenty more time left over to kill a bunch more mobs.

Most recently, Dynamis-Jeuno.

Once again, I demonstrate my unending vigilance.

Killed some gobs, got paralyzed by pets, fire alarm went off just before we stormed the palace place so I had to afk for most of that. Half expected to be sitting beneath a sea of popped mobs when I came back, but I was ok and caught up easily enough. Was the first time I saw some RDM af drop, and I actually had the highest points out of the people who wanted it, hurrah.

'Spikes' enhancement is nice, since I do alot of bloodtanking in campaign and skillup soloing, also I still encounter alot of nuke resists on mobs that are very tough and over, so the +skill is very welcome. MP is cake, DEX is....uh, DEX. LolDEX.

The run went a little messy towards the end, but we got the clear easily enough again, putting me at 3/4 for Beaucedine Glacier access. I think the next run is Buburimu, which I do have access to having completed CoP 3-5 so I'm looking forward to trying that one out. Hopefully a Sandy run comes soon. :0

That's all.
